Healthy eating plans can help promote a positive lifestyle. Our physical and emotional well-being is tied into how we fuel our bodies.  Understanding what is in the foods and beverages we consume is essential for making healthy choices. We can continue to enjoy less healthy favorites occasionally in our eating plan—as long as we consume them in moderation and balance it out with regular physical activity.  

 

As the Dietary Guidelines for Americans and MyPlate recommendations point out, we should eat items from all food groups to properly fuel our body and brain in order to maintain good health.  Once we meet the body’s nutrient requirements with a MyPlate way of eating, we may have some room left in our calorie needs to fit in our favorite extras once in awhile.
